Smiley Heirloom Tomato

Red Slicer; This is another one of our family favorites! Smiley is a tomato to make you smile. Classic red fruits with superb flavor almost never crack. Perfectly round red orbs make an excellent slicer for hamburgers and sandwiches. Tasty enough to eat plain. One of the earlier producers in our garden.

This is another tomato variety that is not available from seed companies, although Seed Savers Exchange has been trialing it for inclusion in future catalogs.  You won’t find this variety at the garden center either.

We always grow two of these plants to make sure we get fruit from at least one in case the one plant succumbs to mishap. Smiley tends to be a little more sensitive to the cold than some other varieties, so make sure you don’t jump the gun on planting it. Treat smiley right and you’ll be rewarded mid-late summer with some of the prettiest tomatoes in the garden.
